used, by Davide Pedersoli
Part Number: AAW-420
Availability: In Stock
Price: $999.00
This nice double percussion shotgun is stocked in walnut and trimmed in blued steel furniture. The front action locks are factory engraved with a floral pattern. The gun was manufactured by Davide Pedersoli of Italy. Weight is 8 pounds to help absorb the recoil from the 10 gauge bores. The 13-3/8" and 14-3/8" trigger reach should fit today's average shooter quite well. Offered as used this shotgun has some handling marks on the stock and a few marks in the blue finish.

The polished and blued barrels are 30" long including the breech plug. The 10 gauge barrels are both fitted with screw in chokes, marked as improved cylinder on the right and modified on the left. Both bores are bright, indicating it has seen little use and been very well maintained. The choked bores can either be used with wool wads, or for traditional cards and wads. The wad manufacturer recommends the following mixture of cards to pass through a full choke (which this shotgun does not currently have). A 10 gauge over powder card passed through on it's side, a 12 gauge fiber wad, and a standard 10 gauge overshot card which should be flexible enough to pass through the choke. The front sight is a standard brass bead. The Italian proof marks and manufacturer marks have been neatly placed at the bottom of the breech end of the barrel for a period appearance. Only the serial number is visible on the side of the left hand barrel.

The pistol grip is checkered, and the walnut stock is fitted with a blued steel buttplate. This wide buttplate is nearly flat, making it comfortable with full loads. The long tang is color case hardened, and factory engraved to match the triggerguard, locks, and barrel breeches. The forend is has a single key that retains the barrel. The key allows for quick disassembly for cleaning. Simply withdraw the ramrod, press out the key with firm thumb pressure, and lift the muzzle end, to dismount the barrels for easy cleaning. The ramrod has a flared end to seat cards and wads and a hidden card puller on the other end. This shotgun is symmetrical and could be used for either a right or left hand shooter. The wedge key is slotted and fitted with a capture pin, which prevents it from becoming lost in the field, exactly like better original guns.

Remove the two 1/4-28 No. 11 nipples, using our #NW-120 nipple wrench, and immerse the breech end in a bucket of hot soapy water. Place a wet cleaning patch on our #Ramrod-7-10-B cleaning rod, fitted with our #Jag-10-10 cleaning jag tip. Push the air out, and draw the water in, as you pump the ramrod the full length of each barrel, a few times. Change the water, and the patch. When the patch comes out clean, you are ready to wipe the bores dry, using a patch wetted with WD-40 or other water displacing oil.

The Pedersoli shotgun locks are color case hardened and engraved with a foliage pattern. Both locks are perfect inside, with strong springs, secure half-cock notches, and full cock notches that release smoothly with normal trigger finger pressure. Davide Pedersoli double shotguns use our standard 1/4-28 nipple. However, he taps the thread seats to the minimum size, knowing that normal use will wear the nipple threads, over time, enlarging them to better fit a standard nipple. Our standard 1/4-28 nipples are quite snug in the thread seats. Apply a tiny amount of Birchwood Casey's Choke Tube Lube, or any good anti-seize grease, to the nipple threads, and install the nipples. Our 1/4-28 nipples are the correct size.
