This scrimshawed flat powder horn has a decorative border around the base with a scrimshaw doe and fawn scene. The left hand side has a scrimshaw panel for the owners name. The horn has a light brown tip with a patina finish on the base. The neck of the horn has a groove to secure a strap, and grooved border with a scrimshaw band transition to the body. a iron staple is mounted in the base. The horn measures 10-3/4" around the outside curve from the tip to the end of the wood base. Small wood pegs secure the base to the horn. A brass stopper is fitted and secured with a lanyard to prevent loss.
