This powder horn is finished with a warm brown patina on the body with a reddish brown tip. The tip is shaped with raised rings, paneled section and additional raised rings to secure a strap. The horn is scrimshaw engraved with New York, Colonial hunter, Indian, mermaid, fish, deer, and a band around the base. The horn measures 13" around the outside curve from the tip to the end of the wood base. A iron staple is fitted to the base of the horn. Small iron pegs secure the base to the horn. A turned wooden stopper is fitted and secured with a woven lanyard.
